Macbeth and Banquo

During act three Macbeth undergoes a hallucinatory mind set. He is so overwhelmed with the guilt of killing Banquo that he sees the dead man with a bloody face at his dinner. He is given a seat that he thinks Banquo occupies, but in actuality there is no one there. This shows how awful he really feels and that his mind suffers the same fate as a prisoner, he is trapped. Everyone at the dinner is suspicious of Macbeth and this foreshadows events to come. The possibility of Macbeth being overthrown has risen. Macduff expressed his inability to attend Macbeth's dinner from his suspicions. Macbeth will continue to suffer as long as he hides his inner turmoil and lives his life of lies.
