As the play goes on blood is used more and more, at the begining spilling blood was a showing of strength, Macbeth slayed men in battle and was considered brave becasue of it, now blood shows evil and weakness. The blood Macbeth sees on his hands after the murder of Duncan shows how he has committed murder that he cannot take back and his weakness in giving in to his ambition at the cost of his soul and conscience. Directly after the murder Macbeths hands were bloody physicaly but in act 3 his hands are bloody in his dreams and Lady Macbeth cannot remove the blood from her hands no matter how hard she tries. Lady Macbeth went from being strong and saying how the blood can b washed off with just water, but now repeatedly washes her hands to remove it.
