Hero Journey

At this point in the story the hero has already crossed the threshold and has his tests, allies and enemies. Macbeth now feels that Banquo is an enemy because he is his one threat to continue his reign on the throne. Banquo knows for sure that Macbeth had to cheat somehow in order to become the king. And he says it to Macbeth and he feels threatened. Therefore Macbeth "stabs Banquo in the back" after they said they would rule together earlier. Once Macbeth commits the evil deed, Macduff is the herald when he warns evryone that the king is dead. The trickster is obviously Lady Macbeth because she has always been trying to get Macbeth to kill the king so that she too can have a spot on the throne as the Queen. Macbeth is now approaching the inmost cave at this point because he has gotten rid of all of the evidence that could possibly lead to him. The only dilemna is that he is now getting worse hallucinations which is showing that he is going to fall soon because you can clearly see that he is getting weaker now.
