In act II you begin to see the true character of Lady Macbeth, a manipulating, selfish, and, ruthless women. I think that she is the main conspirator against Duncan, and is more to blame for his death, than Macbeth. First she drugs all of the King’s Guards saying, “I have drugged their possets, That death and nature do contend about them, Whether they live or die.” and then leaves daggers where Macbeth can find them. After Macbeth finally kills the King, Lady Macbeth is still not pleased with him when he brings the daggers back with him. She yells at him saying” Infirm of purpose! Give me the daggers. The sleeping and the dead are but as pictures.” The only reason she wanted the King dead was so that she could become Queen. Obviously she has no remorse for this wicked deed and is even angered at Macbeth for being upset.Cleary she is a ruthless person that is only interested in benefiting herself, even if it means manipulating her husband.
