The story Macbeth starts out on a battlefield in Scotland during a thunderstorm with the "Wierd Sisters" aka the three witches. This sets the mood of dark and gloomy right off the bat. Shakespeare delineates the three sisters as bearded, ugly and haggard. This makes us create a figment of how dark and gloomy it actually is in the scene because of the visual of the three. In the second scene King Duncan and a bloody man enter(dont remember his name) He tells the king of all of the fighting going on and the story of Macbeth. With Macbeth being called the Thane of Cawdor by the king, it kind of brings on more depression because the king has ordered the previous Thane of Cawdor to be executed. So far the story has taken place on mostly the battlefield with a dark and gloomy mood.

The picture suits the mood of the scene. Well done. Some of the concepts you illustrate are insightful. However, I'm not sure if the depiction of the witches as haggard and bearded necessarily links to the sense of gloom or darkness. Some of your reasoning is flawed but your knowledge of the play is accurate. Vocabulary words are used incorrectly.
ReplyDeleteI like the picture. You did use your vocabulary wrong so it kind of dumbed it down. Also, I do not like the way you described the witches. You do have a good concept of the play. Overall, I think you could step up your game on the blog.
